A pleated silk cushion whose autumn colours have been inspired by nature is resting against the trunk of a walnut tree and blending in with the colours of the autumn leaves and dried grasses. This picture shows how the Lesters work closely to achieve colour combinations that compliment any setting designed by the most sophisticated individual client or their interior decorator. Charles and Patricia create colours inspired by perhaps a delicate jewel, or they might chosen burnished steel as their tutor or perhaps a tiny scrap of colour hidden in the shadows of wild fungus.

Pillows and cushions such as the example shown in this picture are made from the intricately hand pleated silk which has first been painted in colours of autumn as an artist would depict the folds, highlights and shadows of cloth in order to give the three dimensional quality of the garments depicted. Painting the cloth in this way adds a depth that gives the cloth a rich and fluid look even before the pleating and sculpting work is done. The result is an interesting designer accessory for the home which is a work of art as well as a luxurious addition to any decor.
